loss isn’t something that happens once and it’s over with.

people leave echoes in your soul that will ring long after they've gone.

you will lose her over and over again. you’ll lose her when you wake up in the morning and she isn’t next to you. you’ll lose her every time you realize that she’s no longer in all the places you used to be together.

and the more you lose, you start to think… maybe the pain of reliving it is better than having to forget her. because at least if you remember, she’s never truly gone.

AES
THE
TIC

nostalgia, early 2000s-2010s, y2k

In my original pitch, I wanted to pursue a 60s aesthetic for the nostalgia, but I realized that wasn’t what nostalgia actually meant to me.

Nostalgia is personal. For me, it's running around the city with my friends in the dead of night, feeling like the world was going to end. My youth was captured with a crappy phone camera.

There's a unique rawness in a low-quality image. Instead of a perfectly framed shot, it’s flawed, you can tell that there was actually just a regular person behind the camera. And that’s what makes it feel human to me.

VISUAL GOALS

2010s bokeh light trend

cold gunmetal aesthetic

filters either very yellow or too blue

2010s night city, grunge, raincouver

whole thing looks like it was shot on a phone
